This movie is about the story of Mr Majnu, who eventually becomes successful and disappears one day. The movie was released on 20 February 2013. It got the Best Hindi picture of the year award at 2012 Kolkata International Film Festival.Mr Majnu is a 2017 Indian dark comedy film directed by Rahul Dholakia.[3] The film stars Irrfan Khan, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Vir Das and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles. The film was written by Ritesh Shah and marked his debut as the director of a feature length film. The film released on 23 January 2017.The soundtrack of the film is composed by Sachin-Jigar. The lyrics are penned by Kumaar, Manoj Muntashir, Kashmeran Rafique, Mayur Puri and Farhat Ishtiaq. It was revealed on 5 November 2016 that Sachin-Jigar had composed the songs of the film.[4] The songs were released on 30 November 2016. The songs of the film have been appreciated by critics. Pinkvilla gave it a rating of 3/5 stating "the songs are so addictive that they will take you to places you never thought you would go". The Indian Express gave it a rating of 3.5/5 stating "The music is a treat for your ears and packs punch". IndiaGlitz gave the film a rating of 3/5 stating "The film is an enjoyable affair thanks to its adroitly written script. All thanks to the hard work put in by the writer and director duo, who have accomplished a stupendous task not just with Mr Majnu but also in creating a laugh riot". The Indian Express also stated that "Mr Majnu doesn’t have any sort of masala moments but it has got its share of good moments that will keep you amused through out the movie. Its audience will be certainly happy. Shah Rukh Khan was supposed to lead the production outfit but backed out citing differences with the director.

The movie has grossed at the box office and by the end of its theatrical run it had collected .

The film has got mixed reviews from critics. The Times of India gave it a rating of 2/5 stating "Mr Majnu is an entertaining drama with some wonderful lines that will make you laugh your heart out". TimesNow gave it a rating of 3.5/5 stating "Mr Majnu is a well-made film which engages you till the last scene and doesn't repel with twists and turns." Zee News judged this movie as "A fit, well-rounded drama".
